About Me

My first international travel was in 1966 when I boarded the SS Independence in NYC and headed for Naples, Italy, to begin studies in Rome. Through December 1967, I had opportunities to explore Rome & Florence; visit Italian relatives on my dad’s side in Rocca di Mezzo, Abruzzo, Italy; travel to Sicily in a Volkswagen bug with three other guys; stay a month in Vienna to learn German; and travel by train through Eastern Europe & the USSR. Upon returning to the USA to teach school, my spouse & I soon found ourselves living & teaching overseas in Peru, Republique de Guinee, and Iran prior to my becoming a Foreign Service Officer with the Agency for International Development (USAID), which took us to Yemen, Morocco, and Egypt. Living overseas, my spouse & I learned about each country and toured many other countries. In retirement, I’ve been on many cruises & tours: Alaska, Caribbean, Antarctica, South Asia, Australia & New Zealand, Hawaii, South America, Africa, Europe, UK, Greece & Turkey, the Galapagos Islands, and back to Italy to visit relatives in both Abruzzo & Calabria.  Further, I’ve visited much of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Central America.  Over the years, I’ve taken many photos & written about my travels. So much to reflect on. So much fun to look back. Other interests, in addition to travel & photography, include singing, acting, tennis, history & current affairs.
